Title: Bergson et l'Ethique de l'Environnement : esquisse de la problématique
Authors: KATAGUIRI, Shiguéhiro
Issue Date: 31-Mar-1999
Publisher: 東海学園大学
Abstract: In this present article, I try to elucidate the problematics environmental ethics may encounter by way of the philosophy of Berson as a mirror reflecting them. First of all what to do is to examine if it is possible or not, as it were, to install environmental ethics in Bergsonian philosophy, because there seems to be a strong argument maintaining that even ethics itself, though not environmental, cannot be there, and that Bergson appears to pay no attention to so-called environmental issues. The possibility confirmed, the next step to take is to make clear the problematics of what is called biocentrism in terms of Bergsonian philosophy, insisting that it is the difference between man and nature that we must realize to preserve or conserve the latter. At the end a kind of appendix is added in order to throw light on the significance of Bergsonian philosophy for bioethics.
